Trauma to teeth can range from a simple concussion or “knock” on the tooth, to tooth fracture, and even dislodgement (avulsion) of the tooth from the mouth. Treatment varies widely depending on the severity of the traumatic injury.
See your dentist as soon as possible for management. Early and prompt treatment improves the prognosis of the treatment significantly.
Should a tooth be knocked out of the mouth, it should be stored in sterile saline or milk and be brought with the patient to a dental clinic immediately.
- Do not panic
- Do not attempt to clean the tooth yourself
- Do not wrap it in tissue paper!
- Go to the dental clinic immediately
